Hello

I have been in a relationship with my Canadian fiancée for 3 years and we are finally getting married on Friday in a courthouse wedding with friends and family. We will be sending in our packet on January 25th through the Chicago office. Does anyone have experience with Chicago? What is the speed like? How are Cr1 VISAs going in general right now?

Chicago doesn't process the I-130. It's a lockbox that will send the petition to a USCIS service center.

 

ETA: ~12-16 months on average from I-130 filing to visa interview (that includes I-130 processing with USCIS, NVC processing, and Montreal consulate interview scheduling the interview).

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand

8/15/2017: POE

There is no Chicago service center. It's a mail handling location only. Your petition will then be sent to either Nebraska, Texas, California or Potomac. You have no choice as to where it is sent and the center will be allocated randomly by USCIS. 

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

 

Now a US citizen!
