U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will be phasing out self-scheduled InfoPass appointments in an effort to push applicants towards online resources. If individuals still wish to schedule InfoPass appointments they need to first contact the NCSC and speak with a customer service representative. If a customer service representative cannot resolve the issue, the individual will be transferred up to a USCIS officer. If the USCIS officer cannot help the individual, only then can the individual schedule an InfoPass appointment.

NY has the same message online----in the long run will make it easier for those who really need an appointment to get one.  I would imagine quite a lot of Infopass appointments are clogged up by people asking questions/wanting information they can easily search out on the USCIS website itself.  Not saying this is YOUR situation, just speaking in general.

I have a few friends who went to Infopass appointment needlessly (in my opinion)---- one that stands out was for them to do an address change "in person" because they didn't trust filing the online AR-11.  Another was to find out how to file the K1 (like literally set up and went to the appointment to ask what forms should be filled out, what evidence to send, etc.).  Info easily found online.
