Hey,

I’m due to shortly be moving to Chicago once my K1 is finalised. Should I take out a short term insurance policy if I’m not able to join his policy straight away or are there other alternatives people have used

Many thanks

Do you mean for health insurance?  If so, my fiancé (now husband) had a travel insurance policy which covered him between POE and when his enrollment in my employment-based plan took effect.  It was roughly 6-7 weeks.  I believe that travel insurance plan was a 6 month policy, because it was also valid during his previous visit.

Generally Travel Insurance does not cover migration, there are policies that cover migrants. There is no good solution, some maybe worse than others, best bet is to marry asap and get on your Spouses.
