Hello all,

I'm the principle applicant for DV2019.

We are a family of four. We had our interview and was very successful but the next after the interview, i was call by the embassy to come with my spouse on nov. 8

The consular officer told my spouse to do a DNA with my step-child. My question here is, if the result from the DNA shows negative what will happen to our case knowing fully well that I am the principle applicant and my spouse child is not carrying my surname.

So the child is your step son correct, your wife is the birth mother of him? It looks like they are trying to determine if you spouse is the birth mother of your step son.

If I understand this correctly, they are not sure that your stepchild is actually your spouse’s child. If that is found to be the case, your stepchild will not be able to get a visa to join you. It won’t have any impact on your case or the rest of the family, unless you knowingly engaged in a fraudulent attempt to get an immigration benefit (for example: if you knew your stepchild was not your spouse’s child and not entitled to a visa but listed the child anyway).

Hopefully the DNA test comes back as it should and you all get your visas.
