Montreal changed interview date on me - K1 Visa - Help?!

 Share

I originally had my interview scheduled for this Wednesday, December 5th. I just received an email tonight (at 7:51 pm central time!!) from the consulate saying that my interview date is now set for Thursday, December 6th! I did not do anything to make this change! I also checked the Canada AIS appointment website and it also says December 6th now!

This is terribly inconvenient, as I am flying in to Montreal from Manitoba for the interview, and have travel arrangements paid for and set already!

Has anyone had this happen before? I'll be flying out to Montreal very early in the morning tomorrow, so I will have to wait until I land in order to call anyone and see why this occurred - plus I thought they only did K1 interviews on Wednesdays?!

Thanks in advance!

Update: Just got this email, an hour after getting the email about it being on Dec 6. I guess my interview date is truly changed.

"Dear ______________

Due to unforeseen reasons, the U.S. Consulate in Montreal will not process visa applications on December 5,2018 .
For this reason, your appointment was rescheduled to another date.

You will receive a new e-mail with your new appointment date and time, you will not be required to pay the application fee again.

You are free to reschedule that appointment if the date does not fit your schedule.

We apologize for any inconveniences this cancellation of your scheduled visa interview may cause you.

Regards,

U.S. Visa Information Support Team"

That’s because the President declared Dec 5th a federal holiday due to Pres HW Bush’s death

Ours has been rescheduled from Wednesday to Friday. They sent two emails, one was the notice that it had been rescheduled and the other was an appointment confirmation with the new date and time.

This is insanity. Mines also Friday. I never got the second email but figured out how to find out what my new time was.

Hoping the hotel will let us adjust our reservation or add a day. We’re just driving over from Toronto and staying a couple nights. Still super frustrating!!

I couldn't adjust my reservation and they were booked up so I had to find a new hotel for that one night 😫 I hope your hotel lets you!

Trump declared a national day of mourning for Bush who recently died.  No US government employee will be working tomorrow.

I suggest changing any flights ASAP.
