Household Size

Hello,

 

Just a question about the i-134 form income requirements and household size.

 

My partner lives at home with his parents still. His parents both have jobs and work full time. My partner works full time and earns around $35k a year. Does this "household size" only include me and him (2 people), and not 4 people (including his mum and dad)? His parents are not financially dependent on my fiance in any way. 

 

I've just started thinking about this prior to my interview. The poverty guidelines for 2018 state that my fiance must earn over $16,460 for a 2 person household - so we'd be alright.

Household size is based on the number of people dependent on the sponsor, not the number of people living in the same residence. If the parents are listed on his taxes as dependents, then they musty be included. Otherwise, they wouldn't be part of his household size.

 

The CO makes a decision on the public charge issue based on the totality of the circumstances (not just minimums).
