My conditional green card is going to expire in 6 Days

My passport expired last month. IDK what to do. I still haven't received any letter about my application. My timeline is below

Unfortunately, it is taking up to 60 days to get the NOA1. If you filed in October 23rd, you still have some time to wait.

Yes checks were cashed. I'm just wondering what's going to happen if it expires before I get the NOA

Call USCIS tomorrow morning and try to get a receipt number. That way you have some assurance and you can use that to schedule an appt at your local USCIS office to get a I-551 stamp extension on your passport.

They will not stamp her passport since it is expired. She may be able to get the i94 printout with the stamp (? blanking out here) but many people have been given a hard time when asking for that. 

 

@tindera Nothing is going to happen if your card expires before you get the NOA. You just wont have proof of status until you get the extension letter. Do you need it for something urgent? Planning on traveling? Hanging around the border? 

When the NOA extension letter is issued it extends your GCs validity from the date it expired + 1yr (or are they giving 18 mo extensions on the noa now? I havent been following policies that well lately) either way it will extend the GC from its expiration date. Remember your GC is simply proof of status and not an actual status itself. The card can expire but that doesnt mean your status does, it just means you have no proof of your status- but you are still very much in status and legal. The NOA will give you proof of status for an additional period of time. 

Work on getting a new passport as you never know when you will need it.

Call USCIS Customer Service and ask for your NOA number.. if the checks has been cashed it means that they received your application and was able to do the data entry..
