Australian Citizenship by Descent Different Name

Hi all,

 

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question, apologies if it's not. My (I'm the Australian citizen) daughter was born in the US and is 6 months old now. I am wanting to apply for her Australian citizenship by descent, and am looking at the requirements now.

 

I changed my name to my married name in the US (as far as I know, this had no effect on my name in Australia). My question is, if I apply for her citizenship with my married name on her birth certificate, but my name in Australia is still my maiden name, will this cause issues? Any advice would be much appreciated.

AOS:

1st April 2014 - Submitted AOS paperwork

10th July 2014 - Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case received

9th April 2015 - RFE received for expired I693 (medical exam)

5th May 2015 - Second medical exam conducted

11th May 2015 - Picked medical packet up

12th May 2015 - Sent medical exam results to USCIS

22nd May 2015 - Card ordered to be produced!

Sounds like you have not updated your Passport.

Your marriage certificate should cover the name change

i 485, 130, EAD and AP

04/09/2019    NOA1 received/check cashed i 485 and 130 (direct adjustment)

11/7/2019      Interview- Norfolk

11/10/2019    APPROVED (notification rec'd 11/10, approval dated 11/8)

DONE FOR TWO YEARS!!! ;)

 

Filed everything ourselves with no RFE's or delays.

 

CR1 for Child under 21 (20 at time of filing)- Filed by LPR Spouse for his son

4/4/20     Mailed packet

4/12/20   NOA1 rec'd

10/14/21 (havent heard anything... when do i start to get worried?)

9/15/22 APPROVED! Now to wait for NVC and interview....

10/14/21 Mailed to AZ PO Box. Let the waiting begin. Again.

10/16/21 Received at PO Box

10/19/21 Received Text NOA1
