Applicant interview - American spouse's presence

Hello,

 

My wife (the applicant) and I (the American petitioner) have finished submitting our documents to the NVC and now are waiting for my wife's interview to be scheduled at the local American embassy. From what I have understood, I, once again, as the American petitioner, am not required to be present for her interview. That said, my question is very simple: could somebody please confirm that this indeed true? Ideally, I will be able to accompany for the interview; however, logistically, I may not be able to be present.

It's not required, but can be helpful.

Some embassies/consulates allow the petitioner to be in the building. Some allow them at the window/room for the interview. Some don't allow either.

 You need to find out if your embassy/consulate permits it or not.

If not, you can always give your passport to the beneficiary to present as evidence you are in the country waiting for them.

You are not required to be there but if you do go with her, you will have to wait in the waiting area while she goes upstairs and does her interview.

Thanks for your replies. I had not even thought I would not be allowed in the same room. You would think they would prefer this.
