Hi everyone. . .

 

I need some help because we receive NOA1 for I-751 conditional green card then it says 18MONTHS EXTENTION. . .

 

Now questions,

 

Can she renew her DRIVERS LICENSE & CAR REGISTRATION?

A lot depends on your particular state, so the answer is "it depends".

 

You will need the official Extension letter.  If you just got a "courtesy copy" (just plain white paper), it might not work.

 

Some states will give you a hassle, and some states will only renew the license to the end date of the extension letter.  Check the website of your state's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Agree'd with Sukie.

One of my husbands only transition "issues" was with the DMV. Basically the lady there kept telling us there was no way to input I-797's as valid proof of legal residency and ran it all under having a green card, which obviously lead to us getting sent the denial letter stating they couldn't find his green card in the system so no drivers license for him. This was in AOS phase, but I can't imagine this process is uncommon, and we live in San Antonio Texas lol.
