Australian AFP Police Check

Just making sure that I have the correct paperwork on hand... I applied for the AFP Police Name and Fingerprint Check, but the header has just got NATIONAL POLICE CHECK on it.  It also indicates that I had a name and Fingerprint check... did I get the correct document?  All up I think I paid about $40 for the fingerprinting (had to do it at my local police station), and I think I paid about $130 for them to have my clearance.  I sent it to the ACT.  I hope someone can help shed some light.  I hear people are getting the wrong document when it comes to the interview...

It sounds like it, you will need it to say 'Complete Disclosure' on it also.

I uploaded mine to NVC and it was accepted and will take that to the interview.

The full disclosure police check is a code 33 national police check. There is a code 35 for visa purposes but this only includes unspent.

Code 33 is the correct one.

Have done your interview yet?

Did you use Code 33 or 35 on the AFP application?  Mine was Code 35.  On this thread, Etan & Shannon mentioned it should be Code 33.

I've just read about other Australian's in the process saying they needed the code 33 with full disclosure,  they ordered it online and didn't require the fingerprint. I paid for mine online recently and received it within 2 weeks (but it can take longer).  Code 35 only includes unspent offenses, whereas the code 33 is 'complete disclosure' which will include any spent offenses too. Either way I personally haven't found on an official website where it specifies which code Australian's are to apply for. I would just be safe and order the full disclosure one online :) you just have to ensure you provide every name you have ever been known as.

I contacted the embassy in Sydney prior to getting mine, as I had heard contradictory things about if people who have changed names and received the following:

"Australian police certificates based on fingerprints are preferred, but a certificate not based on fingerprints is acceptable if it shows all aliases ever used. When applying for the certificate, indicate that it is “for immigration purpose” and must be “full disclosure”. "

I can't remember what code I selected however mine lists my aliases, is on fingerprints and specifically states it was full disclosure. And no I haven't done my interview yet.

You will still have time  to get a new one if NVC only just received your case, it is at least 2 months at NVC even if you fly through the process.

Thanks Redvines!  I will get a new one this week then...  It takes a month to get them right?  Thanks for the tip!

Can I order the Code 33 without Fingerprints???

I had a look at that thread you posted... I am still quite unsure what to do.  Some ordered Code 33 but I'm unsure if they had Fingerprints as well with the Code 33.  Thanks Ethan & Shannon :)

I'm not sure of which code my fiance used, but his police certificate says "Complete Disclosure. All recorded offenses released. Name check only." Then in the body it says, " There are no disclosable court outcomes recorded against the name of... in the records of the Australian Federal Police and the Police in all Australian States and Territories..."   It is a National Police Certificate and, hopefully, the right one.

Thank you...I just tried doing it online.. it was all going well and then the last bit won't let me pay.  I guess because their offices are closed atm? I'm not sure.  I'll try again in the morning.  Thanks for the tip... I reckon your Fiance did Code 33 Name Check only.  I'll do the same.

He has never used any other name, so hopefully the Name Check one is enough, especially since it's a complete disclosure. Good luck with the payment, and with the rest of your journey!
