Hi everyone!

i just found this thread and it’s freaking me out a bit. We are using my husbands parents as our joint sponsors and they are both retired as well.

Does that mealkkn that Frankfurt does not accept income from retirement even though the I864 instructions say it’s okay?

I don't know what thread you are referring to, but retirement income is income.  What is it about your joint sponsor's circumstances specifically, that is concerning you?

Thank you for your response!

i didn’t know it wasn’t allowed to ask questions in other threads.

Someone wrote that they got approved based on a job offer letter only. Apparently they had a joint sponsor with retirement income that passed NVC but the Frankfurt embassy didn’t accept that joint sponsor because he was retired.

There is nothing specifically about my joint sponsors that I’m concerned about, just the fact that this person said NVC accepted their joint sponsor but the embassy didn’t.

Just do the affidavits of support correctly and don't worry about it.  Without knowing actual specifics, there's no way to know whether there is any cause and effect to the circumstances that would match yours.  Retired people act as sponsors and joint sponsors every day.  That, in and of itself is not a problem.  However, "elderly" joint sponsors may well not be the best choice because the older they are, the less likely it is they'll be around to fulfill the contract.

Thank you so much!

They both just turned 70 recently and are very healthy so hopefully that should be okay. They hopefully don’t ever have to support us so as long as immigration is happy with them as sponsors, we are as well.

That is yet to be determined.  I don't necessarily expect a problem but there are no health questions on the affidavit of support.
