This is the first time I've used this forum, so I'm sorry our profile is short on details...

Our I-130 case also was sent to CSC from VSC, but I don't know why. Does anyone? Is this common? Our lawyer is useless and can't tell us anything, and when I called the USCIS hotline the recorded message simply told me the case had changed jurisdiction. Oh, and that I shouldn't call back for 180 days. What does this transfer mean? Is it a good thing? A bad thing? Has our case been sitting in Vermont for months (NOA1 January 22) and now it's going to sit in California for another four months?

Hi, this is my first post,

Timing wise, we seem to be in a similar situation to that of Khanshahid, as we originally filed I-130 in August (and when I had called to fix a major typing error, was given a "guestimate" of about 6 months for my wife to receive the GC). Ended up filing I-129F for the K-3 only last month, and after an 8-month gap, our I-130 was transfered to CSC. I'm hoping (perhaps quixotically) that we'll get one or the other approved this month; we're kind of in a rush to get to the US before our son's school year begins in August.

I'm encouraged to see that so many have received their approvals in such a relatively timely manner, though frustrated as well: Why, then, has ours taken so long??

In situations such as ours, does calling one's congressman/senator's office really help? Any other advice for moving along an apparently mired process?

Peace,

Matt & Chandra
