Hello everyone,

So good news is that our NOA2 has been approved, the bad news is that currently in Nicaragua according to the embassy website, they are no longer receiving any new cases due to the civil situation going on at the moment, I am assuming that I would have to try to transfer my package to a different country, I plan to call the NVC to see what type of guidance they can give me but any information would help, thank you and God bless.

We are in the same boat and no you cannot transfer to another country unless you can show proof that you the applicant resides in another country.

On July 6, 2018, the U.S. government ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel from Nicaragua. U.S. Embassy Managua’s Consular Section will be open only for emergency U.S. citizen services and diplomatic, official, and life-or-death nonimmigrant visa requests. U.S. citizens and visa applicants may request all other services from U.S. embassies or consulates in other countries.

This is what is says on the official website, so there must be a little truth to it. Usually you -indeed- can't proceed the last steps in a different country unless you are a lawful resident in that country but upon reading this, it might now be possible for those affected by the civil situation in Nicaragua.

It's very difficult to predict if it's possible or not. I'd send an e-mail directly to the Embassy in the Nicaragua sinds the last update on this matter was on July 8.

In the beginning I thought that we could just transfer it to another country. Unfortunately  it is not as easy as it may seem.

I emailed the embassy this morning and they responded saying that they are starting to open up some slots, I can imagine that the slots are going to be limited but its a positive note.

I recall another poster stating they moved case to Costa Rica. Best wishes. My friend's mother has been stuck there for several months. It looks like she may be coming home this week 🙏🏾

Was your case already at the embassy? I read in their website that they are only processing cases that had already been accepted by the embassy as of May 16. Any other cases after that date they were not accepting.

@MKal My case still has not reached the embassy yet, it's still in the process of going to the NVC,  and yes I have read that as well but that's why I decided to email them to get some type of direction and was told they are starting to open up slots.

My case was approved and sent to the NVC and I'm also trying to figure out a timeline of when we will have an interview. My case was sent to the NVC on August 10 I called the NVC and they said I should be getting an email in about 6 weeks. I'm assuming since the embassy is not in normal operations yet that they might have a waiting list of  all the people which cases had not reached the embassy yet. If my assumptions are true I wonder what will be the order of the list, by priority date or by the date the case was completed at the NVC level.

@MKal I would assume they are going to slowly start-up operations, I believe we are going to have to stay on top of them to see when an appointment can be made.
