Hello!

I was just wondering if we have to attach a simple letter with N-400 application requesting I-751 interview and N-400 interview at the same time?

My I-751 is still pending (12+ month) Got all paperwork ready for N-400,  sending it to Chicago tomorrow. As far as I know my I-751 was transferred to local office in Milwaukee this February.

Any advises ? Did anyone do that?

Thank you.

You can go ahead and file N-400 while I-751 is still pending.

As far as I know, you don't have to request interview for I-751 and N-400 at the same time because that's what they is supposed to do.

ROC

12/11/2018 - I-751 mailed (requested a fee waiver) to Lewisville, TX via FedEx

12/13/2018 - package delivered

01/02/2019 - received text message from USCIS with case number starting with EAC

01/12/2019 - submitted online e-Request for non-delivery of NOA (the extension letter)

01/24/2019 - received the response to e-Request via e-mail, which says: "Please allow 30 days from the date of this correspondence for the notice to be sent".

01/28/2019 - received NOA (the extension letter), which extends GC for 18 months

01/29/2019 - received biometrics appointment letter

02/08/2019 - biometrics completed

They will schedule your N400 interview but once they see you have a pending I-751 for ROC, they will not be able to make a decision for approval/oath ceremony until your ROC is approved.

There are some instances where they schedule a joint I751 and N400 interview but I've also read that people have not received approval for N400 whilst I751 is pending. There have been others who asked the actual officer to look into it at their interview and they came back with their supervisor and was able to send the oath letter a few days later. Really a toss up!

Thank you! Will post here my timeline once I hear anything from Chicago office. Sounds like in most cases even if you have I-751 pending they can schedule biometrics and interview within 3-4 weeks?

that is true with regards to the waiting time for a biometrics appointment. I am not sure about the interview - you will have to check on your local office waiting times as some people can wait for over a year for an N400 interview, and others a few months.
