Interview Notice (c/o father's name?)

Hi all,

 

I just received my interview notice in the mail.

 

I just wanted to ask, the interview notice underneath my name it says "c/o (care of) and my father's name"

 

Is that normal? Cos I didn't fill in my father's name in the "In case of" when i filed the forms.

 

Do you think I should call USCIS to verify?

Do you and your father share the same address?  If so, that would explain it.

You could call USCIS and ask to speak to an L2 about it...it's a clerical error then.

Just called them, the tier 1 said he don't understand why my father's name is there as well.

He transferred my call to tier 2 but all the line is busy, i'll have to wait for their call back

You mean 2 hours, right, not 200?   

 

It's normal for them to call you back---all  transfers to L2 officers are "call-backs".  Hope you get a clear answer!

Also in the notice, it mentions i need to bring certificate copy of my marriage certificate... 

Cos i sent all 2 copies i had when i filed my application, that means i need to go to the courthouse to get another copy again?

They will want to see the original, or a certified copy at the interview, yes.

For sure will bring original with us. 

But for safety guess I better go get another certified copy of it

Always good to have certified copies of stuff just even for your own records.  You never know when you need it for something else, not just US immigration purposes...

That's true. 

I got two certified copies but all mailed to USCIS, didn't know they need more than two haha Should have get more copies when I first got them

They just called back and answered my question.

 

They explained becos there's may have some applicants have the same name, so they will just put our parent's name there to verify who is who.

I can say I'm a lucky one, since I filed it in mid-May (May 16), the process is so much faster than i expected! (it's probably my local office is at Helena, Montana, which just have a few applications to handle)

At first my husband filed just the I-130 November 2017 with a PD December 1, 2017. Then we decided that we were going to do the adjustment cause am here in the states since January so we  filed  AOS May 10, 2018 did my biometric July 13, 2018 last week got a message from USCIS that my case is ready to schedule an interview. I wonder how long it’s going to take to do the interview the field office is in Hartford Connecticut
