I have no experience other than as a passenger on a plane with children. I feel sorry for all the parents who have to fly with judgy people around them when they can't help the fact that their child is bored out of their mind or very uncomfortable. My funniest moment was when a guy who definitely didn't like kids, who gave a couple annoyed glanced now and then almost vomited when the child had a complete blow out in their diaper. Priceless. Though I do really hate it when parents don't have any control over their children and don't even try to correct their behavior when they clearly are just being little brats.

I have the doctors letter and other medical evidence to prove my medical condition which I can provide. In addition I have traveled with my infant child before and it was pretty easy, however I have always made sure that my newborn was cleared to fly especially to international countries, and yes its months later as per doctor's order.

I would send copies of those papers to your husband and have him bring them and explain why you are not able to be there.

Yes, I would be scanning the papers to him once I get them. I already sent my originals (Birth Cert, Marriage Cert etc.) with my Dad since he was leaving back home to Dominican Republic, so my husband can have them because I had a feeling I was not able to fly.

FIt's a gamble. I know of one case where a K1 visa was approved without the US citizen present a few years ago, and that was bc the US citizen would lose his job I'd he left and had proof of it. You can roll the dice and you might get lucky. I think it depends on how good your medical excuse is and how much your frontloaded. Fo you have a lot of in- person time logged? For a pregnancy, I think they would ask why you didn't schedule it after the babies were born. If you roll the dice and lose, you will have to redo the whole process and lose those months.

 

If I were in your situation, I would delay until the baby was born, then fly down with the baby and take the baby to the interview. If you don't want to fly with a baby (and your fiance doesn't mind not seeing the baby for a while longer!) you can leave the baby with a trusted friend and some formula, make a 48 hour trip to the DR, do the interview, and go home.

Im 5 mnths now and my due date is in November. My doctor told me yesterday no to flying due to my high risk pregnancy

So you have a specific medical condition that makes your pregnancy high-risk?

I don't need to know what the specifics are, but it kind of sounds like you're saying that it is high risk for you to fly as you reach your third trimester, which is true for a lot of people. There is a difference between a normal progressing pregnancy flying be a high risk and your pregnancy being high risk, like if you have multiples, or gestational diabetes or such. If pregnancy were a legit reason not to go to the interview, I think we would have a lot of those cases. I am sorry to say it, but based on my experience at the consulate and watching various couple's get approved or denied through this site afterwards, I would give you a 20% chance of being approved with a documented high risk pregnancy.EVERY couple I saw at the consulate had a partner with them. With a normal pregnancy that the doctor said not to fly in, less than 20%.

 

Either way, I personally would wait until after your baby is born. I wouldn't be able to bear possibly losing 12-14 mos (sorry, I checked your timeline and now realize that you're talking about your husband, not fiance! ) 

 

I'm guessing you want your husband there for the baby's birth. Is it worth it to risk the 12-14 mos necessary to reapply for a denial? You're the only ones who can make the decision.

I thought I added this but I it erased by errior. I have a medical issue I wish not disclose online, unfortunately its not a normal pregnancy. I have this condition since my first child. My reason of not flying is not because of the amout of months I will have when the interview comes but a severe medical issue.
