Processing times and green card

Hello,

 

I'm confused by the I-130 and the I-485 processing times. My I-130 case processing times is around 7 months, yet the I-485 is over a year. Since my I-130 might be approved the sooner, is it possible that the I-485 be approved right after it? or my green card will comer after the I-485 being approved way after the I-130?

05/11/2018 AOS Package sent via USPS - Chicago Lockbox       07/06/2018 Received RFE letter in the mail regarding EAD Expedite Request

05/18/2018 NOA 1 (I-130; I-485; I-765; I-131)                                07/12/2018 Congressman's Office sent EAD Inquiry and supporting documents to USCIS

Hi! 

 

Your I-130 is likely to be approved before or at the same time as your I-485. Your Green Card will only come after the I-485 approval, regardless of when that might happen.

 

It is very common to see both the I-130 and the I-485 as part of your AOS interview, and that the officer asks you questions about it, and approves it basically in front of you.

March 14, 2018: NOA1  / E-Notification // Physical Mail: March 20, 2018

March 17, 2018: Biometric Appt Notice received //  Appointment: April 6th

March 29 RFIE // April 11 USCIS received RFIE response

May 10, 2018: I-130 Approved  :D *But case sent to NVC*

July 11: INFOPASS Appt + Sent Additional Documents

July 20: Case Ready for Interview (Finally!)

August 14: Card being produced //  August 22: Combo Card in hand
