i have no advice but i've been there. i worked with a rotten woman at a restaurant once. what took me 5 minutes to do, took her 8 hours! and she would spread terrible rumors about me to the other coworkers. anyway, everyone knew she was a liar. everyone (including the head chef) knew she was totally slow and bad at her work. she called in sick countless times. was late almost everyday...but no one fired her. they told me it was because they were afraid she'd sue them so they'd rather keep her around until she quit. good luck with your situation! :(

All I can say is if you work in a restaurant GET USED TO IT! It happens in almost all restaurants. I've worked with a lot of girls who have quit because of it. Doesn't bug me I just play along. Makes the day more fun. Working in the restaurant business is a very high stress job most of the time and people are just like that. Makes the day easier to get through especially if you're working 12-16hr days.

Be careful on this one - depending on the terms of your contract, it may be easier to fire you (to avoid being sued by you).

Make your complaints in writing. Keep in mind, being creepy/annoying/lazy is not against the law. It may be enough to get fired, but that takes time. Sexual harrasment laws are specific - consult a laywer for details, but there are some limits. You really can not seek much relief until you are fired.

In my experience, taking these things to management always works it out the right way, but it takes time. Just be patient.

In the hospitality business, you need a thick skin anyway (expect to take much worse from customers on occasion).

You should report this to the HR department. If the company doesn't react they can be held liable and also individual managers can be sued.

After reading all these stories, I'm happy as hell I am self-employed and work alone. I know I won't sue myself for sexual harrassment! :D

if you do find yourself in that position, the testimony in court should be interesting

yeah restaurants are a for sure place to get sexually harrassed. i've had guys slapping my azz, grabbing it, saying nasty things, to coming up behind me in the walk-in fridge and kissing my neck. its hard thing to prove and would end up making you quit in the long run anyway. its tough to be a girl in a kitchen for sure! lol

hahahahahaha.. yeah, i really wanted to kick that guys azz who kissed me on my neck. but i loved my job and i didn't want to have to quit (and everyone would know it was me who told, i was one of the only girls in that kitchen) so i kept quiet. unfortunately its like saying its just part of the job. its happened in kitchens everywhere i've worked, in every country.

Sorry, but with that kind of attitude...its no wonder why it still gets done. Have you read my original post at all??? The guy is 62 and the girls are UNDERAGE!!!! I won't get used to it nor should anyone else. The law is the law. When someone is making a guy or woman feel uncomfortable and frightened to come to work because they fear having comments made to them, or like with me and the other new female manager, we are made to feel as though he can have our jobs taken from us...there is a definate problem. There will definately be a problem when he finds out that I will be higher then him now which already has me worried. This guy is trouble.

To answer someone elses question in regards to our company policy, yes we do have set guidelines that is why everyone is surprised that the guy still has his job. But again, it isn't just the sexual harassment accusations, it his work PERIOD! The guy does nothing.

i think a visit in the parking lot after shift by the father of one of these girls will resolve this problem quickly.
