Russian Otchestvo (father’s name)

My fiancee does not have a middle name...but as you know Russians use otchestvo (father’s name) as part of their official legal name. Does this belong anywhere in the I-129 application? I ask because it exists on her birth certificate and on her local Russian passport, but not on her Travel passport.

A lot of people just skip it. I followed my Travel Document - just first name & last name. 

 

And no, there is no place to put "otchestvo" on I-129F.

My husband used his patronymic on his past visas as his middle name, so that’s what we kept doing for our CR1 petition, and probably will be any time there is a document referring to a middle name. His SSN card from his J1 visa has his patronymic name. I think the company he works for told him to do it since it was shown on his Russian passport, but I just looked thru his Ukrainain passport and he doesn't have his patronymic name anywhere. 

Funny thing is, him and I had talked about this the other night. We were trying to figure out what I could be called over in Russia if someone is trying to show respect to me.... of course he used my fathers name and sounded like it ended in nova.

She can skip her middle name or she can use patronymic name (otchestvo) as a middle name. I've read many people use both variants here. Myself I used "otchestvo" as my middle name starting with I-129F because I wanted to keep it, and now it's my legal name in all of the US documents including US passport.
