I was wondering how difficult/time hungry is changing from consular processing to adjustment of status?   We have passed NVC stage and since we started the application for spouse visa (November 2016) my wife has gotten a H1B and is already in the US.  She would prefer not to have to return to our home embassy for interview if possible.   I know an I-485 would have to be filed with USCIS, I would just not want it to to take 7 months to get through Nebraska like it did the last time.  Thanks in advance for any help.

You can try but you may well be better off completing the Consular processing.

I agree with pushbrk.  At this point, interview stage, she's looking at spending $1225 more and another year approximately for a green card? I suppose the plane ticket etc would be more than that but she's very close to having a green card and being done with paperwork.
