Hi there,

Wondering if anyone knows how to check the i485 processing time for the National Benefit Center?   The case processing time website seems to have local office processing time only.  Though I live in Dallas, but seems like my marriage based i485 is being handled by the National Benefit Center according to a reply I received today from the Texas Service Center.   Anyone has similar experience?

Thank you for your attention in advance.

G. Wang

Hello,

For marriage-based AOS, after Chicago accepts your application, it is sent to National Benefits Center (NBC) that takes care of preliminary adjudication of your file (thats when they send out RFie/RFe if needed), they take care of the background checks and delivers EAD/AP.

Once that is done and your file is ready for an interview, they send the file to your local office and request for an interview.

In rare cases, they approve it directly if your case is solid and does not miss anything.

So when looking at processing times, for EAD/AP you will look up NBC and for AOS you will look up your local field office.

I hope I made sense and it helps

Take care

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback.  That's what I think also by reading stuff on the USCIS website.   However, my case has been ready for an interview since Aug last year (My PD was 5/10/2017 and it's been a year today since submission) and I've been checking the processing time in Dallas office as well... However, after reading the e-mail reply from Texas service center today, I got confused again as to which office is actually handling my i485... since Texas office said it's being handled by NBC...I wonder if that means my case has not even been transferred to Dallas office at all...but why then the online status has shown ready for an interview since last Aug....

In any case, I've been given another e-mail address of USCIS which I will write them about my case.  Hopefully I will receive a more positive feedback soon...

Thanks again.

The NBC will hold onto your case until Dallas let them know they're ready for more files to conduct interviews, at which point it will be sent to Dallas office. From there, if yours got sent along too, they will set your interview date. Otherwise, you'll be waiting.
