I-864 question

Hey everyone,

I decided since I have time before my NOA2 is accepted I would look into the I-864 Affidavit of Support. I have a few questions:

1. The income that is used for this form can only include income made in USA or can it also be from working in a different country? I ask this because I am training in Japan so my current currency in Japan would be a better representation of my financial situation then the small amount the USA company provides me each month to list me as a USA employee.

 

2. Under part 3 #29, it says "enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this affidavit which includes the principal immigrant listed in Part 2., any immigrants listed in Part 3., item numbers 1.-28. and if applicable any immigrants listed for these questions in Part 11 Additional information." Therefore, I put 1 because my wife is the primary principal immigrant. But, in part 5 sponsors household size it has two sections. 1 section is for persons being sponsored by the affidavit and the other section is for person not being sponsored. In the area for not being sponsored it lists, if you are currently married write 1. So my household total is 3 instead of 2. Any advice?

1. The income must continue from the same source upon return to the US. This does not exclude all foreign-earned income, but most work abroad will not meet this criteria.
2. Advice? Don't write 3. The instructions directly above that section state not to include anybody more than once. Since your spouse is included as the intending immigrant, they should not be included the section for a spouse. This makes the total household size 2.

You need to key in '0' for spouse in this case.
