Just to note to offer support and encouragement for everyone about to have interview.

I had my interview on 12th, with my four kids and really it was a breeze.

Our flight from Scotland was delayed ( eeek) so we arrived 15 minutes after our allotted time. Luckily there were no queues at all for security. ( It seems appointments are scheduled on the hour and half hour so that helped!)

We found our slot and only waited minutes before being called to the first window.

It took just minutes - really handing over papers and confirming you are who you say you are. (I had a much tougher time with a customs officer at Oakland last year!!)

I'd brought tons of stuff I didn't need.

They DID NOT ask for

 - a copy of everything, just the original which you get back

- medical records

 - any evidence of relationship ( other than a very relaxed chat)

 -  i 129

 - only 1 photo

As my first staff member finished I told him I had a certified letter from my children's father giving permission for them to emigrate. That was not sought but they took it since I had it.

A seat for a few more minutes then called for what is the interview itself. Both times just standing so it feels much more informal. My second person was very warm and we just chatted really . She asked where I met my fiancee, what he does for a living and we talked about the weather in Northern California and where she was from ( Oregon). None of the physical proof I'd brought was needed. Visa approved.. We left less than an hour after we arrived. (There is a great Waitrose right next door where you can buy goodies and sit by the river to celebrate!

-Good luck and enjoy!

Wonderful to read all this. Congratulations! Thank you for providing this feedback, which I find so very helpful!

May I ask from where you got your photo? I'm curious if they're particularly bothered about it and its size, as long as it's obviously you with no coverage of the face.

Thank you. I went with the specific instructions which are very clear - visa size 2 x 2.  I wouldn't risk it. Its our third lot of photos x 5 of us! Only need 1 not four but thats how they come, And can be used once in US hopefully
