I suggest you take matters into your own hands, don't rely on others. It is your passport not his.

It's your passport, you need to call them. Don't rely on your ex who couldn't be bothered to pay for your plane ticket to the US.

You won't receive a notice.    You will need to contact the embassy to get your passport returned.

CEAC status will not change, after ISSUED there are no updates,   even if it has been canceled.

 

You have to contact the embassy to get our passport back.  I have you contact info in the previous post
