SLEC and Holy Week

Rose wants to get the medical done but she believes the SLEC clinic may be closed for Holy Week.  I am not sure about all the cultural differences but I do know there is a lot of people traveling to the beaches this week so I thought I would ask.

Holy week itself is not listed as a holiday, I believe they would only be closed:

 

Mar 29	Thur	Maundy Thursday	PHL
Mar 30	Fri	Good Friday	PHL

 

 

SLEC would not be closed on U.S. holidays but would follow the Philippine holidays on this schedule is my thinking.

 The streets are dead during Holy Week in Ermita area. 

 

I arrived there a few years ago and was going to spend 3 days there, I got to my hotel and the weather was nice and cool with a good breeze and very low humidity.  I stayed another 10 days in Ermita.   I wasn't aware of Holy Week and how it is treated in Philippines when I went, but I can tell you the Ermita area and streets were not crowded at all. 

 

I stayed a little while past holy week and got a taste of the crowds and traffic.

Maybe you should try to call them first? Best be sure and to also satisfy your wife without any doubt.

 

SLEC is located at 1177 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila. We can be reached by telephone at (+63 2)521-0020, (+63 2)521-8647. SLEC is open from Mondays to Fridays, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is best to arrive for your medical examination between 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Applicants are served on a first come first served basis, no appointment necessary. Order of release of medical reports will depend on the complexity of the results of the medical examination.

Rose and the kids have decided to go on Wednesday for day 1.  That is one advantage to living so close.

 

Aira is concerned about her period.  It is due anyway.  Will that delay her medical?

Not a concern if she gets day 1 done before "arrival"

That is what we are hoping.  We are also hoping that SLEC will be slow enough to get it done in 1 day.  We know the odds are against us but SLEC is closed Thursday and Friday so they may push them through.  If not, they will go back on Monday.  Easy Peasy.

My wife completed everything in one day .. no reason as to why, she was not there super early or anything.

 

I figured SLEC would be closed Thursday & Friday, they are listed as official holidays

SLEC is closed Thursday and Friday. They will do day 1 on Wednesday. They just showed me the passport photos they took and they are not the 2x2 as required. Looks like they will get more pictures taken.

Yes, have to remember to tell the guy 2X2 as the Philippine passport size is different.  Also background .. white.  No glasses allowed anymore more.

St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic in Ermita, Manila and Bonifacio Global City will be closed on March 29 and 30, 2018, in observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

In line with this announcement, South Korean Visa Applicants are advised not to have their medical examination on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 as the required PPD/Tuberculin Skin Test will not be administered on that day.

Regular clinic operations resume: Monday, April 2, 2018.

I wonder if South Korea has different tests?  I believe skin tests for TB are only performed on visa applicants who are 14 and under while X-Rays are used for older beneficiaries.   Hmmmm

Aira's monthly visitor showed up but they went to SLEC anyway.  No issues so far.  They will let her know if the urine sample was contaminated but so far it is testing as usual.  Looks like they will be asked to go back on Monday for the shots.
