They do not have a choice.  They cannot approve the N400 with a pending I751.  Back in 2018 when my wife naturalized she had her I751 pending.  She received an interview notice for the N400 only, but I went with her and the IO conducted a short joint I751 interview with both of us.  Luckily the IO had our I751 package on her desk, so she was able to approve both.  I think the big question now is how efficient USCIS is with getting the I751 packages to the local offices so they can be combined with N400s.

Thanks. Do you happen to know the I-751 receipt number prefix?
Looking into a publication material from USCIS official webinar in this topic for Processing of Concurrently Pending Forms N-400 and Forms I-751, It mentioned:

"the speakers confirmed that I-751 receipt numbers with the prefix MSC are routed for interview scheduling; receipt numbers that do not contain the MSC prefix (e.g., EAC, VSC, LIN, etc.) are routed to the appropriate service center for an interview waiver determination."

I had my i751 + N400 interview last Dec 5th,

They called me a week before to tell me to bring my spouse with me. (however i had filed my i751 with a divorce waiver. so after i informed the agent on the phone, they told me to let the IO know)

The officer did a combo I751 and N400 interview. And at the end handed me the paper saying i passed the N400 and recommended my approval. But then he told me that it was pending i751 approval.

On January 3rd i received

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled January 3, 2023
We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review. January 3, 2023

And then on January 4th i received

Case Was Approved

On January 4, 2023, we approved your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number LINXXXXXXXXX. We sent you an approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your approval notice by January 19, 2023, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Now my n400 still says oath ceremony will be scheduled, so im just waiting for that. Hopefully that helps to everyone wondering about the i751 process in Detroit that was my FO

Thanks for the details.
Did you get the call directly from USCIS office regarding that? My interview notice didn't mention anything, related to pending I-751 or to bring spouse. But, Ill plan to do it anyways, based on everyone's experiences here.

Hi All,

I have a question about the photo for the naturalization certificate. I filled the N400 online, I didi not need to upload a photo. I read that they will take the photo at the biometrics appointment, but I did not have to go, they were able to reuse mine. Do I need to take a photo with me to the interview?

Thanks

Wife had her interview today for N-400. Really easy. Went over forms that were filed. asked 6 simple questions. Dis the reading and writing.

Have verbal approval as of now. Waiting on I-751 to be forwarded to Detroit or for Lincoln to approve it. Said we will be notified via mail with in 14 days.

FYI

I asked our interviewer what he thought of the no interviews for green cards and he said.

I have 2 boxes sitting on the floor waiting to be reviewed but, they want us to do the interviews for n-400s right away.

This is how i read into it. If you only filed a I-751 you will be waiting a extended amount of time. (He even said some are waiting over 3yrs and need to come in and have passports stamp extending it for the 3rd year.)

Congratulations on the easy interview! Keep up updated once the 751 gets approved and you get your oath scheduled. Good luck :)

Attended my N-400 interview on Feb 28, 2023. It went great!!

I had a pending I-751, and took my spouse along, as recommended by my attorney and some members in this forum. When the Interviewer came out to call me in, he informed, my application had enough information, and a combined interview is not required, but mentioned, it was a good idea to bring spouse along to be on the safer side.

After usual verification questions, the interviewer conducted the reading, writing and 6 civics questions. Very easy.

Next steps as mentioned by the Interviewer:

1. Detroit field office is waiting for my I-751 to be received from the National Service Center - Expected in a week

2. Will get Approval/Oath notice is 2-3 weeks max.

3. Oath ceremony will be 10-15 days from approval date.

Congrats first and formost.

Don’t expect to have everything done in the next month.

My wife’s interview was Feb 16th. Was given the same information as you were.

On Feb 22nd I 751 updated online to biometric reused

Feb 28th received a NOA that case has been transferred to Lee’s Missouri

obviously no other updates at this time. But, from reading the forums people who have been transferred to Missouri have waited any where from 1 week to several months for there I751 to be approved.

Thank you!

I totally agree, and it sounded too good to be true. That's why i mentioned as "as mentioned by the interviewer".

Thanks for the details. Wondering why it went to Missouri. Is that a National service center as well? Your wife's interview was in Detroit, right?
