Wife is going for greencard interview -- visa same day?

Hi, all

After a very long process, my wife will be attending her green card interview next week. She is European and will be interviewing at a US embassy in Europe.

I was under the impression that she'd get a stamp in her passport at the interview if it is successful -- but now I'm reading that she'll need some packet to be mailed to her before she can travel to the US. Is this true? If so, about how long after a successful interview does someone need to wait until they can travel to the US?

The wait might anywhere from 3 days to (if case will be put to ap) few months. But if there won't be any issues she should get her visa and packet few days after the interview.

Correct, then pay the new immigrant fee.  It's a visa interview, not a green card interview.  She's not entitled to the green card until you pay the new immigrant fee and then she enters the US using the immigrant visa.  It should come in the mail within a month of entry, provided the new immigrant fee is paid first.
