Hello all, I have just completed my cover letter. Does it look ok? One thing I am not sure of is if I should include the last item of evidence, the jewelry receipts. Is that unnecessary? Thank you!

The letter is fine. Two things:

  • What evidence are you presenting to show that you live together? The joint lease agreement merely shows that you took on a lease together, not that you actually cohabit there.
  • Do your evidence (where practicable) cover the entire period from marriage to the present?
  • Why just one year's tax return? If there's a good reason, I'd add that explanation to the cover letter, or some other document. I included an "evidence guide" with my application to explain such deviations from expectation.

Best of luck!

The lease should be fine for proof of cohabitation, especially in conjunction with the renters insurance.

Send more than one bank statement... most people seem to have the best luck with about 4/year (spaced out quarterly)

Yes, better to include 2015 taxes as well.

Probably the jewelry receipts aren’t totally necessary, but there’s no harm in including them.

Good luck!

your evidences look good. It's enough for requirements for co-mingle assets.

My evidences were not enough. I'm so worried that USIC will send me a RFE. I don't have any joint bank account, don't have joint lease, don't have joint mortage. So, this lacked much important evidences

- A copy of the front and back of 2-years Alien Registration Card (Form I-551);

- Evidences of Bona fide Relationship:

  • A copy of valid Marriage Certificate;
  • A Letter from Social Security Administration showing that name of maiden name was confirmed and changed into married name;
  • Copy of my wife’s Social Security Card (to show the address and the married name);
  • Copy of my wife’s FN Identification showing the address;
  • Copies of U.S. Individual Income Tax Return of 2014, 2015, 2016, and W-7 showing the joint married filling and the address;
  • Copies of the joint IRS Tax Return Transcripts of 2014, 2015, 2016 showing the joint married filling and the address;
  • Originals of Form 1095-C of 2015, 2016 Health insurance showing that her name covered under my employer's plan;
  • A Letter from BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama Insurance showing the joint health benefit;
  • A Letter from Wells Fargo showing that we have a joint safe deposit box;
  • A Letter from State of Alabama, Department of Revenue showing the joint income tax refund of 2015;
  • A Letter from Liberty Tax Service showing the joint completed federal and state income return of 2016;
  • A Letter from Alabama Revenue Department, Income Tax Division showing the joint income tax refund of 2016;
  • Copies of the Traditional Individual Retirement Account Custodial Agreement by Edward Jones, showing my wife as the beneficiary;
  • Copies of the joint airlines/vacation reservations, tickets and others that we planned in 2015, 2016, 2017;

Thank you everyone, I guess I assumed the lease was evidence of cohabitation... but yes, I will include a drivers license. The reason for not including more tax returns is the ones from previous years were already submitted for the AOS, and I did not do my 2017 taxes yet. A lot of stuff was already sent with the AOS, like joint bank statements and such, but I guess I will put more in there. It won't hurt!

Thank you again.

Libra55 - I hope everything goes well with your application, it looks like you have a lot of good evidence there.
