Hi,

I just wanted to ask a quick question. My fiancé and I and are planning on posting our I-129f form along with supporting documents tomorrow.

Can anyone advise if we can send the information in a ring-binder with each document in individual plastic pockets? or will this irritate the adjudicator?

many thanks

I’m not sure about the adjudicator, but I’m assuming it would annoy the poor sap that has to remove each document to scan it!

No need to put each document behind plastic. Honestly, we sent ours just with a paperclip and it was fine.

USCIS specifically states in their "how to assemble package section"

In preparing your packet, remember:

  • Do not use binders or folders that we cannot easily disassemble.
  • Use fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.
  • Sticky tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. For easy filing, place the tabs on the bottom of the page, not the side.
  • Do not use heavy-duty staples; instead use fasteners or heavy clips.
  • Do not submit originals unless specifically required.
  • Do not submit oversized documentation unless it is necessary.

A binder shouldn't be necessary. All you need to send is:

- the form itself

- proof your fiancé is a USC (copy of birth certificate or passport)

- proof you've met in the last 2 years

- proof you're free to marry (divorce decrees or death certificates of previous marriage, if applicable, and a letter of intent)

- a passport-sized photo of each of you

- payment

A paperclip should hold all that.
