UK - California K1 Application, NOA1 received 2/2/07. No further contact.

Well, it is coming up to 30 days now since NOA1.

I hope I pre-empted an RFE by submitting the correctly signed G325A for me with a covering letter marked with my receipt number and contact details.

HOWEVER - We have the wedding all arranged for the 28th July 2007 (booked it, packed it etc), and I really dont think now that it will all come through in time - it seems to me generally to take 90 days to the day for interviews etc which would put us inside of August.

SO - does anybody know if there is an effective way of contacting the consulate. Is it worth telling them this - I have evidence of all of the arrangements? Is there a chance of pulling forward the interview assuming all other things run smoothly?

Otherwise, would I have to leave the USA after the wedding and sit through another 6 months of isolation awaiting a spouses Visa?

Thanks for your help!

Why oh why do people book and pay for a wedding before they have the visa.....

anyway you could try and contact the consulate to see if they have the paperwork.... But I am sure they will tell you that is does say on the form NOT TO MAKE ANY DEFINITE PLANS UNTIL YOUR VISA IS IN HAND... can you change the arrangements you have already made?

I know things have speeded up somewhat but we got our noa1 in July and noa2 eventully came through approx nov/dec ( this was last year). Dont forget the noa2 isnt the end of it then you will need to collate documents return forms and book a medical! then you will have to await interview date ( at the embassies choosing!)......please take a few mins to read the K1 guides as they are very very useful. If it is any help - you could always try and use this waiting time to get any documents or certificates you need....( i could have moved it along further if i had my police certs for each country but hindsight is a wonderful thing!)

Good Luck - remember patience is a virtue

You should change your wedding date.

Our application was submitted Feb. 2006 and my husband(then fiance) didn't get his interview until August 2006. We also went through CSC and London. Even after the interview, it takes a few days (almost a week for us because he lived in Scotland) to get the passport and "brown envelope" from the Consulate.

This process is takes far longer than one would expect.

Good luck!

If you look at my time line below... you will see people's wiating times vary.... I was one who waited quite a long time!! There is no knowing how long it will be... booking a wedding isnt the best of idea's until you have a certain date... and even then knowing how the USCIS are, I would still be worried!!!

I hope all goes quick for you.... Good luck!!

We have almost the exact same timeline! We are figuring he will get his interview late July/early August, which is after your set date. If I were you, I would call my congressman and explain the situation and see if they are willing to help (which I dont want you to do, cause I'm before you :) ). If that doesnt work, see what you can do to move the date. When I've talked to vendors, they've been very understanding after I explain the situation. Our hall will let us move the date within a year without penalty, etc. Call around and see what they are willing to do for late August, September or October. Be flexible and hopefully everything will work out!

Change the wedding date. No one is going to push you petition or visa through because you made the mistake of making plans before you had the visa. They do not work that way. This is a long process with many unknowns - all kinds of delays can happen along the way. A congressman is not going to waste their time with this and they cannot do anything in a situation like this. If you were stuck in security checks and you wanted them to inquire about your status, yes they can help you. If you planned your wedding date without having a visa in hand, they cannot do anything for you.

Change the date - it's the only realistic and logical option.

Have you checked your case status online?

Do you really think that the US Government will bump your interview up to meet YOUR schedule? Don't you honestly think that others would do this as well if it was possible?

You said "Well, it is coming up to 30 days now since NOA1." .. looks to me like it is more like 90 days if your receipt date was Feb. 2.

I certainly hope that you haven't made any non-refundable deposits.

Its very unlikely you would be able to get anyone wether at the USCIS,consulate or your congresspersons office to speed up your visa. Otherwise everyone would do this. Your best bet is changing your wedding date or at least keeping it flexible until you have your visa in hand. If you cannot, you can still have a cermony, as long as you dont make it legal (which gennerally means not filing for a marriage licence but that varies as to where you plan to get married). But instead have a courthouse wedding when you are together in the US within the 90 day requirement of the K-1.

I don't think CSC would move the case forward, unfortunatelly USCIS specifically says on their web site

"we process fiancé(e) cases in the order we receive them.

We cannot pull a case out of order to accommodate wedding plans.

In addition, once we complete processing, the U.S. Consulate must

process your fiancé(e) for a visa; so factor this into your plans. "

On the bright side, January fillers are getting approved around this time, so hopefully your application won't take much longer. You can check the status updates on this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66059

Still the safe thing to do would be to change the wedding date, and whatever you do...don't get married before the visa is approved, because it could end up in dissaster, check out this case http://www.visajourney.com/news/2007/04/07/17/

Hope your application is approved soon, good luck!

YES...this is the part no one spoke to, if you get married, it is no longer a K-1. Then you are changing horses mid stream. Good Luck with the project, just dont come and get married and act like it didnt happen. A few bucks lost on deposits is not a big enough loss to jeportize this.
