Every case and individual is different. Most people here tend to do it themselves. The guides here are great and the support is there if you have any questions. Generally, unless you have an unusual or difficult case, DIY is suggested. At the very least, look through the guides and forms and figure out if it's worth handing over hundreds (or thousands) of dollars for somebody else to fill them out.

A lawyer or agent cannot make the process go faster.

Wow thanks a whole lot this answer means alot to me.. Thank you very much because we were really contemplating this but actually thinking that we can do it considering the fact that all we have to do is follow the instructions.. Thanks!

The paperwork can be a little overwhelming at first, but just take your time, and ask as many questions as you need.  My fiance and I took about 3-4 weeks to get everything ready to submit.  We were able to meet in-person right before we filed, so that we could both sign the forms and get a few more pictures together.

We also debated but ultimately ended up doing it ourselves to save money.   I went to a consultation with an immigration lawyer.  It was going to run me around $1200 or more.  Just follow the instructions and you should be fine.  My husband is now here and we were married in Dec.  We are on the adjustment of status part now.  Which we also debated getting a lawyer for but ultimately decided to go on our own at the current moment.
