Hi!

Here is my case: I accidentally found out I have hazziness in my x-ray (asymptomatic, no hx of ptb/ primary complex) when I opted to see a doctor in preparation to my up coming medical. I seek for 2 more opininons and were all saying the same results in my x-rays (PA and APL views) that I have minimal ptb though I was tested negative on my sputum smears. Still, I opted to start my treatment on October 2017. I just received my interview schedule which will be on Feb 6,2017. Here are my questions:

1. Can I reschedule my interview date up until I finish my treatment with my private doctor so it will not be necessary for me to transfer to SLEC for tx? I live far from Manila and it would be very costly for me to stay there just for the tx)

2.Will there be no other issue when I do my medical by April aside from getting sputum culture?

Please help me what to do.

  1. Yes, you can cancel and/or reschedule the interview. I believe you get to do so twice before you have to pay the $265 MRV fee again.
  2. SLEC will not accept another medical center's TB treatment for 1 year, after which you would still need to be clean (obviously). If SLEC does the treatment, then it's a ~6 month period for the actual treatment only (no 1 year wait afterwards).
    1. Edit: That said, I'm not familiar enough with what exactly qualifies as TB treatment, sorry. I'm just pointing out that they won't accept another center's treatment plan until a 1 year period has expired. I can't say if that actually applies in your case or not.

You can reschedule your interview date.   Being you stated you received your interview date , I would gather you are an immigrant visa and NVC scheduled your interview.   You will need to wait until it is confirmed that your case file has reached the embassy.

You can check your status on the CEAC website.  https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV

Scheduling the Interview:
By Calling (632) 976-8500, (632) 976-8501 or (632) 976-8502.
This service is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., except on Philippine and U.S. holidays. Callers may speak with an English-, Tagalog-, Ilocano-, or Cebuano-speaking operator.
Applicants, agents or petitioners calling from the United States may also use this service by calling (703) 520-2235.

It is important to complete the medication process as prescribed by your current doctor.

With that said you are shooting yourself in the foot in regards to starting the TB process outside of St. Luke's.     Geowrian is correct... you have only caused yourself more delay.

CDC issues the requirements to St. Luke's regarding TB issues.  And the cost of same is included in your medical fee.   If the SPUTUM test has shown positive you would be required to complete DOT  (Direct Observation Therapy ... meaning St. Luke's would be required to observe you taking the medication DAILY)

I concur with Hank and Geowin. You shot yourself in the foot as you just added year on your wait time. I'm sorry.

Hank - If she "plays dumb" and says nothing about her treatment and her other tests with her personal physician would SLEC not do the xray and if nothing is there (clear) she is "free to go"?  I know that is boarder line untruthful but I say if not asked don't tell. What say you?
