Notification Readiness

Hi All,

I was wondering if you could shine some light on this...I'm applying for a K-1 visa at the US London Embassy.

I've now gathered everything together ready for the interview, do I need to complete this form below  "Notification of Readiness" before scheduling an appointment , I've seen a few UK's not do this based on their timelines but wanted to check this was still relevant before going ahead and booking.

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/immigrant-visas-notification-applicant-readiness-form/

Thanks,

Sunj

I haven't heard that it is no longer needed, if it was me I'd complete it anyway, better to do it & not need to than not do it and have a problem later :)

It may not be necessary since you book your own interview date now but I'd still go for the better safe than sorry route..

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

I would always go by the current instructions on the London website for K1s. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/ .

You may not notice because you are new, but I have seen about a dozen versions of slight changes to the process and website in London over the years. This version is the first in at least 10 years not to mention any form of Readiness notification in their steps.

(Copied from the web page)

----------

This is an overview of the steps required to apply for a visa. Keep reading our website for more detailed information, including how to book your medical exam, a list of documents required on the day of your visa interview and what to expect during your interview.

  • ------------------

There is a navigation arrow still in place on another fiancé page that goes to the Readiness form, but that form used to be actually mentiontioned in the Step1, Step2....list. I think it is a stray navigation that the webmaster didn't clear out. I would follow the Step instructions exactly because that is a change from what was previously there. The previous steps were in this order if I recall.

Step 1. DS-160

Step 2. Gather documents

Step 3. Schedule medical appointment

Step 4. Complete Readiness form

Step 5. Book interview, pay, arrange courier

Most notable in the new four steps is no mention of Readiness and it says attend the medical before going to the book interview step, whereas before it only said make the medical appointment (schedule it)  then pick your interview. It may be that too many have shown up before their medical  arrived,  slowing down the process at the embassy which ideally would have all all things in place so an approval can be granted at the interview instead of waiting for additional stuff and having to back track when it arrives.

Again, the steps are listed here https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Thank you @trudi & @Wuozopo.

Very helpful as always Wuozopo. Agree, looks like they've updated it to reflect to your point people coming without the medical sorted before the interview.

Thankfully that's all done and be received by the embassy for myself, so based on the new 4 steps I'll go ahead an directly sign up and book an interview through the system.

I think you're right I was hunting around for where that link was displayed and I can't find any place that it references it, I think like you say it's an old link left active by webmaster.

Thank you again for your reply.

Regards,

Sunj

I think maybe the Readiness form was finally deemed useless. It used to be in place on a paper form mailed in, then an online form submission when the embassy picked an interview date and mailed out the appointment. It let them know you had gathered all the documents and were ready with everything needed in hand so they could call you for interview. Now that you select your own date, they just have to trust that you will be ready when you get there. People filled out the Readiness form before when they didn't have things but hoped to have soon, so what's the point really? Just an extra step/form that has no way to be checked for truthfulness.
