Looking for advice / opinions / the experienced 

 

I have been invited to a conference in the USA as an independent delegate which would fall during the 90 days after I would’ve entered on a K1.

 

Personally, I wouldn’t consider this as paid work because I’m self employed (so I’m not being paid to attend) and it would be in my interest to attend in order to learn more about the current trends and forecasting of my industry.

 

How would immigration view a conference attendance during K1 / AOS and before EAD authorisation?

I don't think it's a problem because it's just a conference and since it's nothing to do with income and it's about contributing your views and taking notes from others, I dont see anyyyy problem in attending the conference.

I can't see a problem with it.

 

Attending a conference is something you'd be fine about doing if you were traveling on a visa waiver. So I don't see how it could be considered paid work.

I don't see an issue either so long as you are not engaging in work. Attending a conference is permitted on a B-1 or via the VWP, which doesn't permit work either.
