Every visa applicant goes through AP. Only difference is the length. Some people experience short AP while others experience long AP. Them keeping your passport is usually a good sign. They are probably doing some checks and once that's done, they'll issue your visa and return you your passport.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

It happens with mostly everyone. Even after visa approval they will still do one last background check. You may keep checking your status here...https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

My fiancee called the embassy, they refused to give status over the phone, but they added a note to the case, so the supervisor can expedite the process.

Checked today and it seems they added the note, as case was updated today, but still in Ready.
