My wife (USC) and I(LPR) had a beautiful baby a month ago. I want to invite my parents to visit to see the baby. What proof/documents would you guys suggest we present to increase their chance of success - besides a proof of funds from their side, and an invitation letter from us?

Agreed. You do nothing on your end.

This is their application for a visitor visa, not yours. So everything is done by them. They need to show strong ties to their own country.

Your parents should apply for visitor visa. Your or Your wife's invitation has nothing to do (CO don't care about it). Its your folks who have to prove the strong ties to home country (this is grey area) and they have a strong reason to return and not stay in US.
