To update this thread, I did contact the Ombundsman. I found their number and called them and explained my situation. They told me the Ombundsman as well has an expedite request for their case assistance and explained what I need to do to request it. The Ombundsman approved my expedite request and contacted USCIS on my behalf to expedite my petition. The process was smooth and quiet fast and I felt it was fair and that they really tried to help me. However USCIS replied to them noting they won't change their decision on the expedite.

I have since then had to borrow money from my brother and I will need to every month until I get back. I wanted to try one last time with an expedite request. To let USCIS know this is my last attempt and I would not be requesting it if I didn't need it. But I'm afraid this might get them upset and result in a decline. Is it worth to try again? I can even show proof of borrowing money and bank transfers from my brother.

I hope you were able to get treatment, your health should be your priority.  Money comes and goes, your spouse, or yourself, will find ways to get money - don't let the wait damage your body permanently.

You can ask for as many expedites as you want, but I can see how USCIS may think that they do not have to rush to your file because of your decision to go oversea while sick and not allowed to work.

It's your choice to be living in another country while waiting. From USCIS standpoint they were correct in denying the expedite because you could move home and live with your family in order to take care of your health. Every single one of us had to be separated during the process, you are not special. I have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis(2 very serious autoimmune diseases), I visited my husband during the process but lived and waited in the US so I could take care of my health. You can do the same. Sorry to be so blunt, but it's the truth.
