K-2 is for a child of a K-1 beneficiary. :P I think you meant K-3. However, K-3 is obsolete now..it's very, very rarely issued in the past several years. It's a relic from back when the CR-1/IR-1 was taking multiple years to process.

ooopsie daisy! you are right...is the k3...I know! back in 2011 when I applied it was the urban legend of the moment but lately I've seen cases. very few.... and how long is taking the k1 visa now? my took 6 months since applying until I step a foot in US. Cr1 is becoming extremely popular

No worries. haha I've seen a number of K-3 VJers here, but none (recently) that actually got a K-3 visa. The I-129F normally gets approved then sent to NVC where it is administratively closed. That said, I've been hearing increasing reports of USCIS denying the I-129F themselves due to the I-130 being approved already.

The I-129F is taking about 5 months on average now, so the estimates I'm seeing everywhere are ~7-9 months from filing to interview. So yeah, a CR-1 is looking more appealing.
