If toy guns are so bad, then why do we let kids play with them???

It's not the toy gun *technically* that's the issue here. It's the zero tolerance of schools today. In light of all the recent school shootings, it was VERY bad judgment on the part of this woman. I'm sure toy guns have their place, given that parents teach their kids appropriate behaviour with them. Being as we have a daughter and she is very much into girl stuff, the issue of toy guns hasn't come up.

####### is up with some people? a lapse in judgement? more like she was on drugs. why would she even be carrying a toy gun in the first place? maybe she planned on having another lapse in judgement while she robbed a bank with her toy gun.

I know that, but my point was that the toys are still bad as well

Meth will do that to a person.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Remember this part, "Police declined to say why Berg had the cap gun with her..." why?

-They didn't know why.

-They didn't ask that question and wish they had.

-They thought it was inconsequential.

-It would make her look bad (rather, worse)

-It was her her child's toy.

-She was drunk

Any other ideas?

I always think it is a little silly when they don't share details like that. Sometimes it raises interesting questions (not sure that is the case here, though).

If I cause offense it is not on purpose, think about that before you take offense. If you feel offended, consider that maybe I'm not talking about you and maybe I accidentally stumbled onto a sore area and do not know. Thank you.

Good point. Perhaps they can't disclose the reason she gave them until she goes to trial because it could effect the outcome?
