Hello Everyone,

We're in the final steps for the fiancé visa for the US Embassy in Dakar, and I'm not sure if anyone has run into this confusoin.

For the fiancé visa, we have been instructed the following in the table below. My partner works in humanitarian aid and has lived in about 4 or 5 different places for more than 6-months so does this mean she needs to receive a police certificate from all of these places? This is what I understand from the instructions below.

Does anyone else have more insight?

Thank you

IF the applicant…

AND…

THEN the applicant needs a police certificate from…

is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

is 16 years old or older

The police authorities of that locality.

Lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months

was 16 years or older at that time

The police authorities of that locality.

lived in a different country for more than 12 months

was 16 years or older at that time

The police authorities of that locality.

was arrested for any reason, regardless of how long they lived there

was any age at that time

The police authorities of that locality.

Yes, she will have to get police certificates from allll the places she has lived for the past 5 years. I had to get PC from India(my home country) I lived in Dubai for 10 months so I didnt require that (12 months or more) then i had to get a PC from UK since i lived there for 4 years and all these came under 5 years of addresses i lived.

I know the above information is also on the US Dept. of State website, but so is the below:

Quote
  • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

This does not imply there is a "5 year" limit, but that you must include ALL countries since the age of 16 years old. In fact, I tried to search around to see where this 5 year limit is mentioned anywhere officially online and can't find that. Maybe @Aviinashh M can clarify where they got that information?

Hi thanks for that, and yes, we have the police certificates from all of the coutnreis she has lived in for more than 6-months, from the table I provided, it seems as if they are asking for a more localized police certificate. Look at this table below which I copied above.

Lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months

was 16 years or older at that time

The police authorities of that locality.

Does it mean we need a police certifcate from the different localities in her coutnry? She has lived in many different parts of her coutnry having worked in humanitarian aid

Thanks
