I'm planning to get my Royal Thai Police clearance this week but we only have NOA1 and NOA2.We don't have the Packet 3 yet because we're still waiting for our new case number from the NVC. Is it possible for me to get a Police clearance with the scanned copy of NOA 1 and NOA2?I'll also bring my passport and my working permit since I'm from Philippines but I'm working here in Thailand. Thank you :)

P. S. I already have my Royal Thai police clearance last month but it's in Thai and the letter I used to get it is from my school. I don't know if I can use it for my K1 visa application. That's why I'm going to get a new one and tell them to have it in English. :)

Noom applied for and received his Police Clearance before Packet 3. And it was provided in English. He did have a copy of NOA 2. He's Thai...not sure the process is the same for expats.

Thank you for the reply. So he didn't have a letter from the US embassy when he got his police clearance? I called them and they told me to bring it. May I ask how many days or weeks did your fiance wait for his interview?

Hello and you are welcome! No, he didn't have anything from the US Embassy when he bot his police clearance. All he had was NOA2. At the time we were told to allow 5 weeks for the police clearance, so we decided he should try to get it while we were waiting for the case file to reach the Embassy, so we would be a little bit ahead. It turned out that he received the Police Clearance in a week, well before the case reached the Embassy.

Noom never received Packet 3 ... apparently it was miss directed or lost in the mail. We had been notified that the case had been received by the Embassy on August 15, and after waiting for  Packet 3 for a few days we decided to go ahead and send the Packet 3 documents anyway; they were mailed on August 23, 2016 (yes, 1 year ago today). He then received Packet 4 on August 26 with notification that the interview was scheduled for September 7. So just a couple of weeks to wait. He had his medical exam at BNH on September 5...interview on September 7 and received his passport with visa on September 9.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much for the information you gave about your process here. I really appreciate it a lot. I hope they'll schedule my interview after 2 weeks  of sending the packet 3. :) We're still waiting for our case number from the NVC.It's been 10 days of waiting for the case number. Would it be okay if I'll call them tomorrow?

Can confirm, my now wife, was Vietnamese living in Thailand. She filed for it once we knew the case was being sent to the US Embassy and brought the NOA2 with her. She was not able to get the certificate until after the holdiays, also there was a two week wait. That being said, the wait wasn't as bad as for her Vietnamese police certificate (they required 5 weeks, unless you wanted to give a bribe of over $1k, then it could be ready in a couple of days).

Steps Before Citizenship:

Spoiler

K-1

09/24/2016 - I-129F Packet Submitted, 09/26/2016 - NOA1, 10/27/2016 - RFE Received

03/05/2017 - Packet 4 received (now the fun begins) --> 03/29/2017 - Interview disappears from the schedule on the embassy website -->03/30/2017 - She goes to her interview, is told they need to verify her documents since she is Vietnamese interviewing in Thailand, receives a 221G with 'Verification of Viet documents' as the reason. Gave back her passport.-->03/31/2017-04/04/2017 - Case is being continuously touched. We suspect that our case was approved at this point but they didn't have her passport. --> 04/10/2017 (10 days after interview) - Email emabssy to inquire about updates and if there was anything we could do to move things forward. (3h later) - She is told that she is approved and to expect her passport soon (how when they don't have it in their posession?) After clarification, instructed to send our passport to them. Ship out passport in a rush to beat Songkran (which failed) --> 04/11/2017 - Passport at embassy according to Thai Post Office --> 04/17/2017 - Emailed to confirm they received the passport. They issued an evasive answer about Songkran backlog (they love evasive non-committal answers)--> 04/24/2017  Evening - Case changes from Immigrant Visa to Non-Immigrant Visa and a new case created date is given --? 04/25/2017 morning  (less than 12h later) - Case flies through Ready -->Admin Processing --> Issued

Thank you for the reply! :) So they accepted her NOA2 even without the letter from the embassy?Did she bring her work permit? I'm planning to really get it next week because the waiting time is quite longer but I don't have the letter yet and I only have a scanned copy of our NOA2.Is it okay to have a scanned copy? Plus I'm still waiting for my work permit because it's renewed but the school didn't give it to me yet.

She only had the scanned copy of the NOA2 at that time. Also, yes, she brought her passport, work permit, etc. She wanted to be sure to have anything and everything that they might request. I believe she even brought a copy of her lease, just in case. :D Truthfully, I have heard of some people being told that they need the packet 3 letter, but it is really rare.

Also, a word of advice, if you want to contact the embassy to find out about the case status, do it by email. Phone calls are almost NEVER productive. Emails on the other hand were routinely helpful, albeit often non-committal about certain things (meaning you needed to read between the lines). Just make sure to include the names, case number BKK2017XXXYYYY, etc in the email.

Thank you so much for the advice. :) It'll really help me. How many days or weeks did she wait for her interview? And may I ask where did she have her vaccination too?
