Well it did come from an alt-left publication so I did consider it fake, but after reading it (yes it is a long read), it does make a lot of sense considering the amount of data stolen and the ability to transfer it at a rate not even possible.

yeah but see that bit i just posted about "marble". this is like a james bond tale to chase here..

Protip: Having an opinion you don't like isn't off topic spam.

Off topic spam on the other hand (re: DRINK DRINK DRINK) is off topic spam.

Pretty unambiguous.

Well, the left are quite notorious for having trouble handling reality, especially since Trump ran for Prez. So I guess it makes sense.

Read something we don't like.. throw tantrum/spam topic!

Well I posted that once, so let's not get carried away.

LEFT LEFT LEFT is spam too when you lack context. That's why I wonder why the moderation team is OK with it. I was asked to read the term of service recently, but it doesn't really reconcile with the way some of you post.

And one that I have brought up many many times.  There are a lot of people out there with the capability to make it look like a Russian hack, but that was always dismissed as tin foil hat territory.  Did the Russians try to influence the election, probably, but I don't think it was anything more than what the US did for Brexit, or Israel, or any other election around the world.  Hence the money and time being spent on this whole Russian narrative is a giant waste, but what's a few billion to a bunch or rich lawyers.

Hello.
I will comment on only one question raised here. It has to do w/ anonymity, a matter I looked into carefully and repeatedly during the reporting. As noted in what I wrote, anonymity in this field is respected as common practice.
Last night I had a note from Adam Carter in which he addressed this question of identity. (I didn't solicit his remarks on the topic.) He wrote in part:
"Please know that both Forensicator and myself only choose to remain behind pseudonyms for security. (Understanding Guccifer 2.0's purpose makes it clear to us that whoever it is, they are connected to influential and wealthy politicians that are not likely to be happy about this being exposed and the prospect of it being who we think it is does not make us feel any safer.)"
Adam Carter went on to note he and colleagues are aware of the inconvenience their decisions to remain anonymous imposes.
I see nothing peculiar in this judgment. I ought to add that some of my intelligence sources warned me as we finished our work together to be careful driving, esp at night and esp on the country roads I traverse to get home. This is not funny business, I was firmly advised. I'm not in a position to judge these kinds of things directly, but they are, and so I take their word for it.
That's that.
As to all or most of the other remarks in this thread, nothing in any of them alters in the slightest detail anything readers will find in the piece. We're bolted to the floor on this one.
Cheers to all.
Patrick Lawrence.

Its politics, things get heated, people have opinions others don't like. When in doubt, use the block function. It's worked well for me, except in cases where I still read some people's posts when they're quoted by others. If you really feel that criticizing the left is spam, use the block function, then you'll be free of the terrible opinions you subjectively equate to spam.

I only read the first few comments.  I need to go back and re-read all the rest and the new ones, but this one is interesting.

Yeah, if I read that terms of service document correctly, the report button would not be favorable to you either.

Then use it. Whining in topics isn't going to work because you have no authority, and since OT spam is unambiguously against the TOS, well.. there's this thing called hypocrisy.

Of course, you just joined, I find it interesting that you're already trying to rock the boat here. :jest:

Anyways, no sense in giving it more attention.

there's more to the whole thing than the dnc hack or leak. way more. i love a good tin foil story so, this has actually made the dnc fiasco a bit more interesting to me. my issue with the russian influence in the election is whatever financial (or otherwise) dirt russia has over trump and his brand. that's not a narrative, knowledge of those ties and deals go way back before the election. anyway those ties and that hold russia has on trump is much more worrisome than interference with the election. i don't care about 'the us does it' , the us does so much stuff that i don't agree with..and i'm not naive enough to believe that will ever end.
