Adjustment from esta- travel / work papers

Hi

i am just wondering if anyone can tell me how long they waited for their working papers and travel documents to arrive after sending their application away for adjustment of status.

My adjustment of status is from an Esta and through the marriage to a u.s citizen. I haven't yet sent the paper work away but just looking for a rough idea of how long it may take for these papers to come back. And how long after they arrive are you allowed to travel.

thank you

A rough estimate is between 90-120 days but it always varies as the USCIS is not quit reliable.

The 90 day processing estimate got eliminated at the beginning of 2017. It's a goal to have it processed around 90 days but no guarantee.

Based on my own experience and from what I've seen on here, plan for at least a 4 month wait from the receipt of your application.

Yes, plan for 4 months, consider yourself lucky if it goes faster than that.

This is how long mine took and I had no RFIE:

12-20-2016 - I-131 sent

04-07-2017 - AP in hand (108 days)

01-18-2017 - I-765 sent

05-30-2017 - EAD in hand (132 days)

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Mine took 133 days with a request for evidence for my I-485 so there is no in between

I'm also in the middle of an AOS from VWP, and my case was pending for 112 days before I decided to put an e-request in to check on the status of my I-765 (you're allowed to do so after 75 days, but most people would recommend to wait 90+ days). Then I hadn't heard anything so I made an InfoPass appointment - it turns out that my interview has been scheduled and I'm just waiting for the notice to arrive in the mail (they had sent it the day before my InfoPass appt, so I just hadn't seen it in the mailbox yet!). So my interview has been scheduled before my EAD coming in. So you never know...there are so many factors I can't keep up haha, there seems to be no clear patterns! I know that NYC is one of the most backlogged cities for AOS applications so if you were there you'd most definitely get an EAD long before the interview, but I'm not sure about New Jersey. As people above have said, it'll be 3 months at the very least, but best to prepare yourself for longer than that :)

Thank you! I have myself prepared for a long process but it will all be worth it in the end.. hopefully. Good luck with your interview
