Timeline

So... I've been searching for timeline data for Chicago paper N-400 filers. I don't know how to do the fancy chart thing in the monthly groups—this is just a spreadsheet pasted in, no idea what the formatting will turn into when I post—but if you have any data points to add (or correct if I have something wrong), please feel free to let me know.

The "Inter. let." column is "Interview letter."

Thanks!

I filed for N400 online with I751 pending. I read here that Chicago doesn't do N400 and I751 combo interview, so I was mentally prepared to be turned away at the interview.

So my interview was this morning at Chicago field office. To my surprise, my IO proceeded to have my N400 interview without even mentioning my pending I751. And 15 minutes later I was recommended for approval.  It's a total surprise because I was preparing for another long wait

@minnerva65 That's amazing, which month did you file your I-751 in ? Also are you an online N-400 filer ? I know that a couple of folks here ( @AK_2014 & @Kate_H ) weren't as lucky as you were. Congratulations !

Thanks. I definitely felt like I just won the lottery. I filed I751 in December 2016, and N400 online at the end of October 2017.

So technically you were eligible to apply for your I-751 as early as October 2016 right ? All of that notwithstanding, it's commendable that you got your Citizenship this fast. CSC is still approving 2016 September filers. I wonder if processing of the I-751/N-400 is contingent on the office ? I believe @AK_2014 and @Kate_H had the same hispanic officer.

You are right. I think I was eligible for I751 either September of October 2016, I just got lazy and didn't apply until December.

My IO is a middle-aged Hispanic gentleman, very professional, chubby, I honestly thought I had the same IO like  @AK_2014 & @Kate_H. I read about their experiences and was praying that I won't get the same IO. And lo and behold, there he is.

I'm glad things worked out for you. What does your I-751 case status say ? I wonder if that is something they overlooked. Also did you spouse accompany you for the N-400 interview ?

Oh, wow! Maybe they've finally realized how strange their earlier policy was when they refused to allow several of us the chance to do the same, and have mended their ways. In any case, I'm happy for you!

I-751 interview is done & new card approved/received, but zero movement on the new N-400 interview, alas. I'll keep y'all posted if/when it ever comes along. (We're moving to a new state this summer and are really expecting it not to happen before then, which adds all sorts of fun complications and delays...)

That's awful, I'l sorry to hear that. It's such a pain that they can't get their act together.

@minnerva65 congratulations! I am glad things worked out well for you!

I was also interviewed by a cool Hispanic, chubby IO...I guess we all got interviewed by the same IO :)

He also mentioned to me that he is new so he wouldn't be able to approve on the spot and that only his supervisor can approve. Does that sound similar?

@ChicagoN400 Did you have your I-751 pending before the interview ? Also, when were you interviewed ?
