Wondering if anyone tried/succeeded in expediting I-131/AP? Last week we sent our concurrent filing papers for AOS to Chicago lockbox.

A beneficiary needs to visit her home country late August to attend one-year memorial services for her deceased mother. She can still use her non-refundable roundtrip ticket's remaining legs to fly back to that country as we did not plan to adjust status. USCIS policy lists several criteria for expedited processing of I-131, including financial loss, emergency situations, humanitarian reasons. We think that all these three criteria apply to our situation (well, may be emergency situation is to a lesser extent than other two). So we are considering expediting her I-131 only, without any requests regarding I-765. We would be happy if it results in expedited combo card though... But we would be also fine with getting two separate cards too, AP sooner, and EAD later.

Would appreciate any thoughts and experiences shared by fellow VJ members.

We've been wondering if anyone tried to expedite I-131/AP? We just received texts/emails that our concurrent AOS filing has been accepted by the Chicago lockbox office and routed to NBC. We filed both I-131 and I-765 concurrently with I-485.

A beneficiary needs to visit her home country late August to attend one-year memorial services for her deceased mother. Would that be a good enough reason for an expedited processing request?

Would appreciate any thoughts and experiences shared by fellow VJ members.

Doubt it but since people have somehow managed to get emergency advance parole to go on honeymoon you can certainly try.

She can go to her local office, no appointment needed and ask for an emergency advance parole. She needs to bring evidence of why she needs it, 2 passport photos and her case number. If it's approved she will have it in hand the same day and it is valid or 1 year.

Hi Unidentified! Many thanks for your advice! It's almost certain that we will try to get the emergency AP through our local office.

We thought that as a first step, we could request expedited AP by calling or doing it online, and possibly following up with our congressman. And if this doesn't work, or is too slow, attempt an emergency AP. Would such a sequence make sense?

Thank you again.

Well since you don't need it until late August you could do that too. But if they deny you during your service request I doubt there's any reason to go to your local office.

Yes, there are trade-offs to consider. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

First one went unanswered for a long time, like a week. That's why I asked the same question in another sub-forum, where the traffic is much more livelier, and in fact, it got answered by you :))

If you don't mind me asking. Did you get the AP approved to attend a memorial? I am in the same position and wondering if my case would be expedited to attend a memorial
