Hi everyone!

Just a quick question, once the K1 visa is issued how long is the validity date? It's an issue for me because I have to give a 3 month notice to resign from my job once our petition is approved.

Many thanks in advance!

The K-1 has a validity of 6 months :) You'll have enough time.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

The K-1 has a validity date of 6 months BUT it's tied to the medical date and not the visa approval date. So be careful to look at your dates once you receive your visa.  BTW.... 3 months notice for your jo?. I'd be kind and give them 30 day notice since in my mind I won't be returning so what is the big deal? Just saying.

I've got 3 months as well, for my job and apartment.
But I've talked to both early and I can leave with a month.

Maybe inform them about your plans and figure something out.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I hope the dates will work out fine.

I'm sure it will :) As per Greenbaum, your K-1 validity is tied to the medical date. So keep that in mind.

While waiting for your interview and visa issuance, start going through your stuff now and manage stuff that needs handling or changing e.g. bank account, credit cards, insurance and whatnot. That way you wouldn't be overwhelmed by the time you need to quit your job and packing for the big move.

Btw, it's more prudent to quit your job when you have received the visa, not when you get the NOA2. A petition's approval does not guarantee a visa.
