police record from US?

Hello.. I was browsing the US embassy site in Romania to see what do i need for interwiew and they say i need police record from all places i lived more than one year... So do i need police record from USA also? i lived more than one year but i never heard before something like this. If i do need that..how i will get it if im here? have somebody heard about something like this? thanks

There is no such thing (Police Certificate) in the US - you'll only need it for places lived overseas. =)

You don't need one because the USCIS already has access to the necessary databases to run this check themselves

There are several countries that either don't issue them or wouldn't issue them to you, so you don't have to worry about them. There's a list on the information that accompanies the London Embassy Packet 3, and I'm guessing that same information goes out to applicants from other countries (could be wrong, but who does and doesn't issue certificates doesn't change by country of certificate seeker).

If it makes you feel any better, my fiance's here and didn't have anything along those lines from when he lived in the USA for a few years. He had his two French police certificates and he was fine.

Wrong! There is though not required for K1 or K3. I submitted one when I applied for my citizenship a few years ago.

I had to do the same thing because i lived in Texas for a long time. All I did was call the El Paso, TX, police records section and I asked them what I needed in order to obtain my police record. I had to send them a money order for $7 and give them as much information about myself as possible. I gave them my SSN, name - including my maiden and name from my ex- husband, all addresses used in the US, telephone numbers i had, birthdate, etc. The more information you give them, the easier for them to find you in their system.

I had to mail a written request stating what i need the police record for ... along with the information stated above. i received my police records from the El Paso county clerk within a week.

Where did you live in the US? If you need help, I can help you find the number you need. It's really simple - dont stress over it.

I needed it when I applied. They also just told me I need it again when applying for AOS. I think that if the OP did indeed live in the US for more than a year, it won't hurt to have this. If they end up not needing it, he was at least prepared if in the event they did ask for it.

The US does have them. I have mine from Germany and Texas. You have to contact Police Records which is with the county clerk and you may request it there. Cost me $7 and I was asked for mine from both places. ;-)
