K-1 Approved in London!!

So, yeah, I had my interview this morning and was granted a K-1 Visa! :D:dance:

This is how it went...

08:15, made my way from Royal Sussex Hotel to the Embassy via a Taxi. (advice - dont use mini cabs or private hire vehicles, only use official London taxis 'the black cab' style ones. I paid more than I should have with a guy in his own car with no meter...wont be doing that again.)

08:25, arrived at the Embassy. Was impressed at how grand it seemed, and the park next to it was pretty. As I expected, there was a huge line of people, shaking in the bitter cold. I wondered how many of them were going through the same process I was. So I went to speak to the 2 security guards (ZZ Top man was there!! lol) and they told me to go and join the line at the back. I stood there for about 30 minutes at least until I was then 3rd in line for the 10:30 appointments. The security guard then asked for my passport and appointment letter and waved me through to the security hut further down the side of the embassy. Its then the usual x-ray machine and metal detector scenario, place your valuables in a box etc etc. It kept going off on me and I had no idea why till I realised id forgotten to take my camera out my pocket...oops.

Then you walk all the way round the front of the embassy, past all the people still waiting in line feeling ever so slightly smug that you made it through this far, till you get to the main entrance and into the reception area.

I had to check in my camera as they arent allowed inside the embassy. You then go up some stairs and into a very large waiting room. A man gives you a ticket with a number on and you go to sit down and play the old waiting game. The waiting area was nothing like I expected, there must have been over 200 people sat down on lines of chairs all staring at large screens informing people what number was ready and which window to go to. I waited about 30 minutes before I was called up to the window. I gave the man my passport, appointment letter, police and birth certificates, 2 photographs and the i-134's. He then gave me my X-ray, the pink courier slip and told me to go back and wait to be called up again. So i sat back down, and stared at the screen for another 30 minutes till I was called again to another window and was greeted by a very nice American lady. She didnt require anything from me, she just asked me to hold up my right hand and swear that I was going to tell the truth to whatever she was going to ask me. She just asked casually when Did I meet miranda, and where, and then she said that its obvious we've spent a lot of time together and shes met my family too, and I was good to go. She told me to take the pink slip to the courier desk and pay the visa courier fee. I knew that was it then, but I still had to ask 'So am I approved??'. 'yes you are', 'thank you so much!' 'youre welcome! :thumbs: ' :lol: No 'Welcome to America' sadly, and I did tell myself many times id ask for them to say it if they didnt, but I completely forgot about it, my head was spinning!

So I went and paid for the courier, and walked out of the embassy very pleased and very very relieved it was all over...

till AOS at least!! ;)

To all interviews coming up, dont worry, its no way as bad as you imagine it to be. As long as you have everything in order and your case is sound, you'll get approved and you'll wonder what you worried so much for :)

Good luck to everyone!! :dance::dance:

Congratulations James!...Seems you were outside when I was too!. Funny about the camera. I took my phone in which has a megapixel camera on the back of it!

I can't imagine what you would want to take pictures of though! (Apart from the Eagle Richi!)

Itwas a bit slow this morning for you too then, neither of us got through as quick as Jahan last week. But that's behind us now. We can relax for a few weeks before the next round of paperwork!

Don't let my fiance hear you say that! He's a 'guy in his own car with no meter' kind of cab driver! Most companies have set rates from point a to point b - just be sure and ask before you take off what he'll charge to take you to your destination. :) You can get out and find another cab if it seems unreasonable.

But congratulations on your approval!
