Problems applying for N-400 online - help?

Hi VJers

My husband become a conditional LPR on Sept 30th, 2014. According to the early filing rule, he can apply for citizenship July 2nd, 2017 (yesterday) since it's 3 years -90 days from his GC anniversary date.

I'm trying to apply for my husband's N-400 online and when I go to determine my eligibility it asks whether he got his green card before Sept 27, 2012, between Sept 27, 2012 and Sept 27, 2014, or after. When I clicked after (since it was Sept 30th 2014) it says he's not eligible.

So should I wait 3 days and try again? I don't understand why it's asking about Sept 27th since technically someone with a Sept 30th anniversary date would already be eligible to apply for citizenship...

Any ideas?

There would seem little choice but to wait 3 days.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Frustrating. I know several people in the June filers thread (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/636756-n-400-june-2017-filers/?page=13) have reported filing online, so I just put a follow-up question there to see if anybody recalls whether the window of availability centered around Sept 27 when they applied, or if they remember seeing a different date there. Maybe someone will see the query, remember what the date said at the time, and report back. In the meantime, here's to hoping USCIS opens the window up soon!

For reference -- just found a post in an older thread dated June 21 that had Sept 17 as the cutoff date. So it appears that the date does move forward, just not on a daily basis, if that helps.

Hi @hsa12390, Did you find out how often the day moves forward in online filing? I am encountering the same issues. The date in the questionnaire shows exactly a day before my 3 years GC anniversary. I am eligible since yesterday but the date has not moved forward.

Thanks!

I haven't checked again recently, but I figured out a way around it in any case. I actually just clicked yes the second option ("did you get your conditional GC between September 27,2012 and September 27 2014) just to see what would happen and it did in fact let me access the application. I thought that when I put in my GC anniversary date later it would maybe give me problems but it did in fact let me proceed even after I put that I received my GC on Sept 30th 2014. Not sure if it'll actually let me submit the entire thing...

Out of curiousity - which date is it showing now as the cutoff date?

Yes, I actually did select the option between Oct 17, 2012 - Oct 17, 2014 and it allowed me to go through! Then my husband got freaked out so I deleted the draft case. I think I will wait until next week and see if the date changes. It definitely moves from when I checked 2 weeks ago. I am guessing it rolls over every Monday. When are you planning to submit the application? I am sure you can do it now.

That sounds about right. I tried applying 2 weeks ago and the cutoff date was Sept 27 2014 so clearly it's been moving. My husband (the GC holder) just left to visit his family in france for a week so probably when he gets back we will start the process. Still not sure whether or not to apply online. I thought it was moving faster than the paper application but it looks like they're the same. And given how glitchy the website is i'm a bit nervous to file online

Yeah I read about the glitch but based on the forums, I noticed the online is still moving faster. My husband and I are leaning towards the online stuffs, of course until it rolls over one more day. It's so close yet so far..... Either way, I have all the papers and electronic version ready to go.. Good luck to both of us!!!
